Born in 1987 in Kenya, Evelyn is the daughter of Jerome Bruins. Her journey into the world of sculpture seemed only a matter of time as she was exposed to the daily routine of rearing animals with her father. Her natural maternal instincts and her open, loving nature proved irresistible for the animals in her care as she formed close relationships with many before their eventual release into the wild.
Now settled in Kenya with her husband, Rory, and three children, Evelyn began sculpting as a hobby, which then grew into a wonderful journey of creating stylized imitations of her subjects. Not bound by the obsessions of her husband and father, she has chosen to capture her subjects by drawing from her own artistic flair. By augmenting certain features of each animal, the elegance is enhanced, and the essence of the subject becomes far more apparent. Her work is showcased alongside her family in the Safari Bronze Art Gallery in Karen.
